With networking and with the World Wide Web, people are much more accessible to health professionals. Whether you are merely rubbing off and influencing behaviors by modeling good practices or you are speaking up and sharing about researched knowledge, you are making an impact. Do not be discouraged; dietitians are being propelled into a bright and dynamic future, and the momentum increases as we unite with unique purposes to accomplish common goals. The United States is a melting pot and has seen the consequences of poverty and prosperity and how our choices determine the quality of our lives and the lives of those around us. We now have a message to share with the world. We know what works and what does not work. We are pioneers with discoveries to shout from the mountain tops. Our work is cut out for us and many developing nations need us to prevent them from making the same mistakes America has. Develop relationships and doors will open up for us to share our experiences. Albert Einstein said, "The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." I agree.
Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen.
