Help STOP the spread of eating disorders

  • STOP praising people for weight loss
  • Encourage following NATURAL CUES  to regulate eating, including hunger, appetite, fullness & cravings 
  • Teach RESPECTFUL REFUSAL of foods
  • STOP commenting negatively on body weights, shapes or what you & others are eating
  • LISTEN to the underlying messages when children describe feeling different because of their size or shape or when they suddenly decide to change their eating
  • Suggest HEALTHY STRESS RELIEVERS for negative emotions instead of eating
  • Seek PROFESSIONAL HELP for those struggling with weight or eating issues
  • AVOID DIETING unless under professional supervision
  • DO NOT RECOMMEND weight loss as a method to "feel better about yourself". SELF-ACCEPTANCE  & care must come first to acheive lasting health
